So you have arrived to Budapest Airport, the boys are all excited and ready to go. Boy, was it hard to enough just to get them in line and survive the flight alone. Now you need to get them to the headquarters. It is no small feat to get the mob going into the right direction. There are a couple of options to reach the hearth of Budapest. Public transportation is a pretty good way to get to where you want, and its fairly cheap compared to the UK. A single train ticket costs around £1 for a one way ticket. Its a bit more pricey to get the airport bus around £3. This will surely not break the bank and the airport bus is a good deal, although somewhat time consuming. Now, when you are on a stag do in Budapest time is all the essence and you need to pack as much into anything (even a simple airport transfer) as possible. Things you should know and avoid!
Although Budapest got a lot better lately, you should always take the word of the cabbies with a pinch of salt. Budapest Airport is notorious for the Taxi Hyenas, yes these are the blokes who are turning up with big smiles, offering to take you luggage right away, crack a joke or two and then rip you off without a second of hesitation. Sometimes they can take us much as £30-£40 per cab just for the ride in. If you book a private airport shuttle it works out much better for you that's for sure.
Should you come in high season there are times that you wish for such a person. It can get so busy between March to September that you can spend a good amount of time just catch a ride, and that something you really cant afford. So don't be a knob, just book a private airport shuttle and get on with the party. There are much better things to do in Budapest than to wait in the airport.
Why you need to pre book.
Between May and September we see the high season of Budapest stag dos hit the fence. Its not rare to have 30-40 stag groups for each weekend. Now, the number of private bus companies ( especially ones that take stag dos) and limo companies to be booked out well before the actual date. So its best if you prebook you airport shuttle or your limo and be down with it. What we see is that once you book accommodation, transportation, the worst part of the stag do planning is done. Throw in a day time activity, a prank or two, a Budapest bar crawl and you are done. All you need to do now is recieve the pats on your shoulder and that occasional cold beer from your mates. Mmmmmmm beeeeer.
